Do's and Don’ts in Thailand
There are many websites listing many do's and don’ts in Thailand. I recall an Australian who said he never believed in the idea of following all of them. He specifically referred to losing your temper. Thai's don’t respond very well when you lose your temper. These are a more specific list of what not to do:
Don’t criticize the Monarchy of Thailand; better yet don’t even discuss them. Don’t point with your feet to anything. Don’t step on or write on money as The King’s face is on it. Don’t walk into the home of someone without taking off your shoes Don’t touch anyone’s head unless it is a child. Don’t hug or kiss in public. Don’t point at anyone.
Then of course there is the DO list which is also important. When you retire in Thailand, you will get to add your own do and don’ts to your list. For now this brief list highlights only the really important aspects of retiring in Thailand.
Do check your laundry when it is returned to make certain it is yours. (I could tell you a story or two) Do drink lots of water in Thailand. Kidney stones are a common problem with expats. Do wai the elderly. Do get a hobby, many expats and retiree’s don’t have anything constructive to do. Do exercise tolerance
